Step 1
Pre-Treat Stains Immediately
Why: Dear stains! Grass, mud, and sweat set quickly, and being off the field or the road, can set forever! Pre-treating will remove 90% of the stain before washing.
How: Rinse under cold water within two hours of play; apply a small amount of detergent directly to the stained area, scrubbing gently.
Step 2
Turn Jersey Inside Out
Why: This prevents logos, numbers, and printed designs from coming into direct contact with detergent or friction.
How: Unbutton (if it's a baseball jersey) and release the lace (if it's a hockey jersey) and turn inside out.
Step 3
Use Cold Water & Gentle Cycle
Why: Hot water causes shrinkage and fading, while the gentle cycle is just gentle-aiding the fabric allowance from unnecessary wearing.
Settings: Cold water, delicate/gentle cycle, 12-20 minute wash time maximum.
Step 4
Choose the Right Detergent
Use: Color-safe, enzyme-free detergents that were created for performance fabrics; steer clear of—bleaches, fabric softener (binds the fibers and reduces breathability).
Step 5
Inclusion of White Vinegar for Odors
Why: Vinegar cancels out the stench of sweat without harming the fabric.
How: Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the bleach dispenser. There will be no vinegar smell left after the final rinse.
Step 6
Sun Dry Only
Why: The heat of the dryer causes shrinkage, damages the emblems, and sets stains permanently.
How: Hang on downy hanger or lay flat. It is usually dried in 2-4 hours. Never use clothes pegs on decals.
